Wisconsin Bicycle Race, June 2019. Photo by Al Teich

Taken in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in June 2019, this was a stage of "TOAD," the "Tour of America's Dairyland," a bicycle race around Wisconsin.

We were visiting my son and his family in Wauwatosa (a suburb of Milwaukee). My then-15 year old granddaughter Sylvi, an avid cyclist, was working the race as a reporter. My wife and I went with the rest of the family to watch part of the race and visit Sylvi at work. I took this with my Fuji X-E3.

Le Train Bleu, an Iconic Paris Restaurant, July 2019. Photo by Al Teich

Le Train Bleu, a Belle Epoque restaurant located within Gare de Lyon, a Paris railroad station, opened in 1901 and was declared a national historic monument in 1972. The decor is truly spectacular, as are the prices.

We went there for drinks and sat in the bar during a summer vacation in Paris in 2019. I shot this picture in the entry hall with my iPhone. The drinks were nice, but the decor was amazing and well worth the visit.

Chihuly Garden and Glass, Seattle, WA, February 2020. Photo by Al Teich

Chihuly Garden and Glass is an art museum in the Seatlle Center, adjacent to the Space Needle.

Dale Chihuly is a prolific artist based on Seattle, working mainly in glass. His art is exhibited all over the world, but this museum devoted to his works is probably the largest collection and it's amazing. We took a break from the AAAS meeting in Seattle in mid-February of this year to spend a couple of hours here. Of the many iPhone pictures I took there, this is one of my favorites.

Lake Needwood, Derwood, MD, November 2019. Photo by Al Teich

Lake Needwood is a reservoir located in Montgomery County, MD, north of Washington, DC. It was created in the 1960s by damming Rock Creek and is within Rock Creek Regional Park.

This is an iPhone image taken on a mid-day excursion in early November. It was a one of those crisp, clear fall days and we couldn't resist spending some time outdoors.

Al Teich is research professor in the Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University and former head of Science Policy at the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He's been a member of the National Press Club as a news source since 2003 and is a member of and former chair of the Photography Committee.
