About the exhibit

Welcome to the National Press Club 2021 members photo exhibit. The show returns this year to the Club's main atrium lobby on the 13th floor of the National Press Building, 529 14th Street NW in Washington, D.C.

The members' photography exhibit is an annual highlight at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., with members' print photos and electronic images displayed in the Club's lobby for the month of September. In 2020, the pandemic forced an online-only exhibit, but in 2021 the rich assortment of images returns to print and digital formats, with stories that go with the images in this catalog.

Photos and images this year combine photojournalism with photo art, and contributions representing a wide range of experiences, interests, and geographic locations. This year's event is the 22nd annual exhibit by the Club, and a production of NPC's Photography Team. Marshall Cohen, who founded the Photo Committee, as it was called, also started the exhibit, which later committee chairs Darlene Shields and Al Teich continued each year. Cohen, Shields, and Teich are participants in this year's show as well.

We thank the 39 participants contributing 151 images seen in the exhibit and this catalog. And thanks, of course, to our NPC staff liaisons Kaitlyn Cotter and Kate Helster, for keeping the Photo Team's wheels turning, as well as Laura Coker for designing another stunning exhibit logo. We invite you to see in person the exhibit's print photos on display with digital images shown on big screen monitors through September 2021.

Viewing tips

The catalog is best viewed on a laptop, desktop, or big-screen monitor. While the exhibit can be viewed on a phone, the images display much better on a larger horizontal screen. A series of links at the top and bottom of each page helps navigate the exhibit. The Photographers link takes you to the list of photographers, to find a person's photos. The Browse Images link takes you to the first photographer on the list, with other buttons on each page pointing to the previous and next photographer.
