Daphne Steinberg

As a print reporter for approximately 10 years, my "pictures" were primarily created with words. Now I like to capture scenes and preserve memories the more traditional way, albeit, by using the "modern" technology that is my phone. I wouldn't say I'm partial to any specific subject matter. If it catches my eye, I'm likely to snap a shot.

Steinberg image 1 Reluctant to Leave Home
Mature cicada sits next to empty nymph shell on Lily of the Valley leaf.
In May 2021, the cicadas were *everywhere* in our backyard in Alexandria, (Fairfax County) VA. Very few outdoor surfaces at our house weren't covered and as such the scene was a big frightening to behold. As I looked around, I saw this nymph shell with its contents quiet and still beside it. It caught my eye because it seemed to be a bit of an oasis amidst the chaos. It reminded me that there's really no place like home.
