Birds of a FeatherWalking by Union Station in Washington, DC, on a clear, early summer day, these guys caught my eye. Memorial Day 2022
After having lived abroad for several years, I decided to take a walk on the National Mall on my first Memorial Day back. This man, sitting at the Vietnam Memorial, was having trouble taping a piece of paper to the wall so he could do a rubbing of the name of a fallen soldier. I asked if I could lend a hand, which he accepted. From our brief encounter, I could see that the memories and pain of the war were still raw. I think it is important for all of us to remember how much others have given to our country, and to us, and how much some people have lost. Reflection
The Embassy of Sweden has many water elements to its architectural design. This reflection was captured in one of those elements. Bee on Flower
Washington, DC, has planted many bee-friendly spaces, such as this one on Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest. I was surprised at the bit of camouflage, not having realized previously how similar in color some bees are to black-eyed susans.
