The Snake River and the Grand Tetons. Photo by Marshall Cohen

Made famous by Ansel Adams, this view of the Grand Tetons is one of our country's most revered locations for photographer's. The location, a gift of nature, offers spiritual comfort during these difficult months

I was driving a wide circle of hundreds of miles from Denver to Denver, photographing several National Parks in several states. I carried both a Hasselblad medium format camera, and several 35mm Nikons. This shot was taken with a wide angle lens on a Nikon, and intensified slightly with basic photoshop tools but no image modification. It is a natural wonder and nearly impossible to capture its rapture. Although the River passes through many states, this image was taken in Wyoming

Captain Victor Borge. Photo by Marshall Cohen

Famous Danish Comedian and Musician Visitor Borgfe took the wheel of the Tall Ship "The Danmark" while the ship was cruising New York's Hudson river during Liberty Weekend. Although this was one of many of his comic moments on board, he was a expert sailor in "real life!"

I was the Official Photographer on the "Danmark" many times, and it was this assignment fora the Govt. of Denmark that convinced me to change vocations to photojournalism. Victor Borge was on board as well as Walter Cronkiite, the National Press Club's first winner of our Fourth Estqte Award. Spending 6 days on board with such celebrated company, and the experience of sailing on this beautiful and historic ship was a life changing blessing, never to be forgotten. My exhibition of 50 large photographs of the event was viewed in Copenhagen, Aaurhus, Denmark, and Baltimore's World Trade Center.

A Village in Southern China. Photo by Marshall Cohen

A young man was a willing subject in this agricultural village which was undergoing construction projects.

I was in China combining a holiday with with an assignment to provide story-telling images to a Panama-based stock supplier. All along the roads were labor intensive housing and infra-structure projects. People were very friendly and willing to pose for my workhouse 35mm Nikon cameras and lenses throughout China.

A Flight Over the Juneau Glacier Fields, Alaska. Photo by Marshall Cohen

Flying in a small seaplane plane with a shaky door en route to a salmon bake to be shared with hungry brown bears was a hairy experience, especially for a balding photographer. But the scenery was magnificent— especially in this uniquely Alaskan setting.

One challenge to photographers traveling where the temperature varies between extremes, is to try and keep your lenses from fogging or condensation. In a small plane over glaciers where the temperature can change it was important to keep the camera close to the body as much as possible to avoid temperature extremes. In some locations, heat or ice packs can be useful, but add to the baggage weight as well.
