Retired after a 45-year career in education, journalism and public relations -- including more than 30 years with IEEE, the world's largest professional association for the advancement of technology. Oversaw an effort to appoint a stronger sci-tech adviser to the first Bush White House staff through a public-relations campaign. Designed a campaign for strengthening precollege math and science education. Spearheaded two UN forums promoting high-tech opportunities for young females in developing and developed countries. Arranged a Press Club luncheon venue for Neil Armstrong to present the NAE's "Greatest Engineering Achievements of the 20th Century"; and a Press Club preview of a biopic, "Codebreaker," on Alan Turing. Led a Press Club Newsmaker on presidential conventions with George McGovern.
