The grant for $438,000 was awarded by the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center at Fort Detrick, Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>TruTouch Technologies bases its system on spectrometry. The system sends a beam of harmless near-infared light to the subject&#8217;s skin (finger or forearm), which analyzes the light reflected and absorbed. The analysis indicates the molecular structure of the chemicals in the subject&#8217;s body, including alcohol content.<\/p>\n<p>The test does not require taking any fluid samples or stocking any disposable supplies (e.g. sample cups) and gives results in a few seconds, according to TruTouch.
