6 Apr. 2019. As more businesses implement artificial intelligence or A.I., in their operations, boosting security is emerging as the leading way to use this technology. Our friends at Statista<\/a> reported these findings yesterday in chart form, and it’s our infographic for this weekend.<\/p>\n

Data for the chart come from a survey<\/a> done last year for Consumer Technology Association, available for purchase from Statista, showing detection of security threats is the leading A.I. use, by more than 4 in 10 respondents worldwide. Nearly as many respondents (41%) say they use A.I. to help resolve customers’ technical questions, while about 1 in 3 each (34%) cite automating product management and tracking internal rules compliance as leading applications.<\/p>\n

The data indicate companies are using various forms of A.I., such as voice recognition and natural language processing — technologies used in chatbots, for example — as well as machine learning. Most A.I. uses noted in Science & Enterprise are for scientific or medical decision making, such as in diagnostics, genomic analysis, and drug discovery, as cited in the links to recent stories below.<\/p>\n
