Kotok)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The global pharmaceutical company Merck in Darmstadt, Germany has opened the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.merck.de\/en\/media\/extNewsDetail.html?newsId=C42B6F3A5FB8B0E8C12578630032B1DA&amp;newsType=1\">Merck Serono Israel Bioincubator Fund<\/a>, to support Israeli biotech and materials science start up companies. Merck&#8217;s chairman Karl-Ludwig Kley announced the initiative yesterday during meetings with officials in Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Merck\u2019s incubator program covers pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and high-performance materials. The program will offer start up companies seed financing and the opportunity of using a part of Merck Serono&#8217;s Israeli research and development center, Interlab, for their own research. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.merckserono.com\/en\/index.html\">Merck Serono<\/a> is the company&#8217;s biopharmaceutical division headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>Merck Serono will invest a total of EUR 10 million (USD 14.2 million) over seven years.
