The trial will help define proper dosing for the drug.<\/p>\n<p>Cardioxyl&#8217;s placebo-controlled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT01096043?term=NCT01096043&amp;rank=1\">phase 2-a trial<\/a> will take place in as many as 20 sites in the U.S. and overseas. The study will enroll 54 to 66 cardiac patients with decompensated heart failure and will evaluate hemodynamic factors during intravenous infusion of CXL-1020 at several dose levels. Investigators will assess these factors with invasive and non-invasive techniques including both echocardiography and direct <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/medlineplus\/ency\/article\/003870.htm\">Swan-Ganz catheter-based measures<\/a> of heart pressures and function.
