Semiconductor manufacturer Texas Instruments<\/a> launches today a new Silicon Valley research laboratory in Santa Clara, California. The company says the lab will also provide opportunities for collaboration with researchers and students at universities in the region.<\/p>\n

The company’s 70-acre Silicon Valley Labs<\/a> plans to focus on R&D involving analog and mixed analog\/digital signal circuits. Projects are expected to range from signal processing for ultra-low power pattern recognition to power management for future cloud servers.<\/p>\n

Texas Instruments says it will provide opportunities for graduate-level research on-site at its Silicon Valley Labs for researchers from Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley, and other area universities. The company also plans to double its internship opportunities for top engineering undergraduate students.<\/p>\n

“Many of today\u2019s toughest challenges, from efficiently powering cloud computing to making quality medical care more affordable and portable, can be addressed with inventive analog semiconductors,” says Gregg Lowe, TI’s vice president responsible for development of analog technologies. “TI Silicon Valley Labs will tap into and invest in the Silicon Valley ecosystem of innovation, to tackle challenges like these with our customers.”<\/p>\n
