Fletcher image 1 Having a smoke and gazing at a phone in Berlin
City scene in the Mitte (middle) district of Berlin
I was walking down the street and was struck by the sight of a lone, dark figure against a towering geometric background with splashes of bright colors.
Fletcher image 2 Windows to an ancient past at Abó Ruins in New Mexico
The Abo Ruins are what remains of an early Franciscan mission church (San Gregorio de Abó) built in 1630 and former settlement of one of the largest native American Pueblo villages in the Southwest. It is part of the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument, west of Mountainair, N.M.
Surrounded by a maze of rusty earthen brick buildings with rugged textures, I peered through one opening where a shock of turquoise from a smooth sky caught my eye. I found the window-within-a-window concept interesting as well as the patterns of geometric lines.
Fletcher image 3 Cherry blossom canopy
A view beneath an array of cherry blossoms in DC.
While strolling around soaking in the lovely splendor of cherry blossoms, I stood beneath a tree and gazed up. I liked the contrast between the dark straight branches with pointed ends that looked harsh compared to the delicate hues of the round fluffy blossoms. I thought if you just looked at the branches, it could look menacing. But then if you look at the flowers, it's beautiful.
Fletcher image 4 Crescent moon in Vienna
View of the Rathaus (City Hall) in Vienna on a moonlit night
On a warm spring evening, I decided to check out Vienna on foot. I snapped lots of photos while walking down the street as it grew darker outside. I came to the Rathaus and paused as I saw a wonderful moon rising in the sky. I thought the crescent sliver in the dark sphere glowed majestically over the jagged structure in contrasting shapes. I also liked how the illumination from the building and bright moon complimented each other. So I walked back and forth to position the moon just right within the frame.
