Ron Hoffer

Ron is a recently retired specialist on international water and environmental management for the World Bank and U.S. EPA. He has worked on project sites around the world, and on policy initiatives with the United Nations and regional investment banks and partnerships. Photography has always been crucial to communicating the details, successes and challenges. He continues to enjoy taking photos around DC and on personal travel, using a variety of film and digital equipment. His work in Central and Eastern Europe is captured in the 2020 photo memoir "From the Bronx to Berlin and Beyond." A Tajik boy proudly shows off an eggplant from a communal garden, surrounded by family and members of his community.
This photo was taken at a World Bank project site aimed at fostering good agricultural land management to foster livelihoods and reduce the impacts from climate change. The hills in the background were denuded from over-grazing.
